Writer’s Block
It’s odd – I’m at a point right now where things in my life have calmed down and I’m rip roaring and ready to go with writing new articles for this site… and I have the worse case of writer’s block. I’m glad v2 has been on the ball with his meta articles, but it pains me to sit idly by and not have anything to say. Hence, I’ve decided to end my writer’s block by just writing.
First, I want to comment on those productivity websites. I subscribe to a few of them out there (mainly lifehack, lifehacker and put things off), but I find I spend so much time reading about how to be productive in my life that I end up being unproductive as a result. As Alanis Morisette would say, “Isn’t it ironic, don’t you think?” It’s NOT ironic… it’s just so… meta. [v2 edit: you asshole]
These sites have been helpful to me in getting my shit together and I recommend hitting them up every so often if you need a boost. Just don’t spend all your damn time reading about what you could be doing and just go out and do it. If you want a quick summary of everything those sites can teach you, I’ll sum it up:
Create a to-do list, use the damn to-do list, clean your email inbox, get a calendar of some sort and use it as well.
There you go, the secrets of being productive in today’s busy world.
I’ve discovered another problem with today’s world. We spend so much time telling each other that we can be do anything and there’s no limit to our potential. With so much crazy shit in the world and cool things to do, we spend most of our time dreaming. We dream about what we want to be, what we want to accomplish, life goals we have in mind and ways we can be great. What we don’t teach is how to get off our asses and do it! I’m here to tell you to stop dreaming and start doing.
Here’s another free lesson: it won’t come easy. If you’re looking for an easy way out or a quick scheme, all you’ll be doing is lining the pockets of somebody who will “teach you how to easily accomplish this. I’ve spent many years honing this system after many failures and spending thousands of dollars… and now I’m here to give it to you for the low low cost of…” FUCK THAT PERSON! Just get out there and do it!
I personally spend countless hours dreaming of new magic routines and countless hours practicing them and perfecting them. The difference between me and the other guy? I go out there and perform them, only to come back and tweak them even further. I learn exponentially from my own experiences as opposed to the experiences of others. In fact, after having my OWN experiences, I can understand the experiences of others and put it into practice. I know some of you are still waiting to see my magic – relax. It’ll be up soon enough.
Some people would like to blame our education system for today’s great drive towards killing imagination and ambition. That’s only partially true. The system itself is setup backwards for today’s world, however, the people within the system are doing the best they can within this archiac insitiution. The emphasis is still on grades – useless arbitrary grades that students put their self worth into. WHY?
You stress yourself over grades in high school because you want to get into College/University, then you stress over the grades there to keep scholarships/stay in the program/because you’ve been programmed to care since grade one, then you get your diploma or degree. Now what? A degree and diploma is so standard now that it is expected and worthless. I know you spent a lot of effort getting that and many sleepless nights achieving it and for that you should be proud. But, it shouldn’t have to work that way – it needs to change. For those of you who have seen the movie Accepted, I think that’s a step in the right direction.
I personally think we’re experiencing a new shift in consciousness. People know this world needs to change and they know what we’re moving towards. This is an exciting time to live as it is a transition phase. Much like the enlightenment, this next phase of our human history will have far reaching consequences (hopefully for the better). It’s such an exciting time in the world that there’s no reason for you to be bored. A few hundred years ago, the word boredom didn’t exist. It’s a new word that people throw around because they don’t know what to do with their laziness. Do me a favour: next time you feel bored and don’t know what to do, start working towards one of those big life goals you’ve been dreaming about. What’s stopping you? You’re obviously not doing anything at that moment anyway.
I’m going to reiterate my point one more time: there should be no reason for you to be bored.

Amen, brother! I was just about to do an article on procrastination and life goals, but IRONICALLY someone did it for me. I think we’ve all been caught in the web of planning but never doing…
Great website, very readable clean content. You may want to try adding more pictures, but either way nice site.
An article about writer’s block needs more pictures? Dat bitch crazy!
Just for comparison/contrast sake, I’m curious to see what v2’s take on procrastination and goal-setting was going to be.
Well done, though, Zor.
What the – where’d it pull my avatar from?? Did you guys add gravatar as a wordpress ap or is it just built into wordpress automatically?
I am sick and tired of reading the fucking ‘today’s world doing this to us, today’s system is this and that and fucking what not?’, that all is fucking crazy. I care a damn about yesterday’s, today’s or tomorrows world, shitty business.
